Description:
Lake Manyara National Park is primarily taken up by Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake, stretching approximately 50km in length. A bird-lovers paradise, Lake Manyara features over 400 species of birds, including the pink flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, and more. The entrance to the park is through a jungle like ground forest, home to tree climbing lions, baboons, and blue monkeys. Nearby, in the Maasai Steppes, are buffalo, wildebeest, and zebra herds, alongisde dik-diks. Giant fig and mahogany trees are also in abundance.
The water levels of Lake Manayara fluctuate seasonally, and during it's peak, the lake takes up about 200 sq km of the 330 sq km of the park.
