Once the throne of the Al-Busaid Dynasty, the palace was converted into a museum. Within the museum includes numerous artifacts from Zanzibar's trading history, almost full-sized portraits of Omani Sultans, the State Room and Banquet Hall, the room devoted to the life of Princess Seyyida Salme, and more.

Die Insel ist ziemlich arabisch. Neben feinen Gewürzen (Zimt, Nelken, Kardamon usw.) auf der Insel, ist auch die Geschichte sehr interessant. Der Palast des Sultans in Stone Town steht immer noch, ausserdem wuchs hier Freddy Mercury auf ;-)
