This temple was once the largest wat in Ayutthaya.  It was built in the 14th century and contained a 16 meter high gold-covered statue of the Buddha that was melted down by the burmese when they conquored Ayutthaya.  Its 3 beautiful chedis are still standing and provide excellent examples of the Ayutthaya style of art and architecture.

This temple is really nice - I highly recommend that travelers arring to Thailand via Bangkok international Airport spend their first few days in Ayutthaya instead of Bangkok, where it is much more peaceful.
