Weekend Market
During weekends, the entire Chatuchak park is transformed into a sprawling market - the biggest weekend market in the world.   The entire 35 acres of park land is overrun by over 9,000 individual shops and stalls selling everything under the sun.  The vendors here employ a variety of unusual selling tactics including making odd noises, wearing costumes, and shouting randomly.

Getting there:
This week-end market takes place in Chatuchak park located between Phaholyothin road and Kamphaengphet road.  Mo Chit station, the last stop for the sky-train's northern line, is located at the southern end of the park.

So huge that it is easy to get lost, this market must be one of the world's biggest. It offers everything from household goods to tourist items to animals. There is even a cock fighting section (I would advise you avoid this with the bird flu still floating around!). It is quite easy to catch a bus from the Khao San backpacker area there and back.

This is one of my favourite shopping venue. You don't want to miss it if you are there in BKK. You basically buy anything from here without paying a premium price and some of the product are a wholesale price if you dare to ask them. You can basically find Thai souvenirs like Thai silk shawl (beautiful colorful),shoes, leather jacket, local Thai designer dress, wood carving, lady accessory, pets, aroma therapy items etc and not forgetting Thai food. Prices here are anytime reasonable, you may bargain but they wouldn't go low to 50% and they normally extend u 30% or you buy more they extend you a special rate. This area is huge and you probably spend the whole day here. You might want to hope in the buggy to go for a round that area before deciding which section you wanna see or do your shopping. You will love it but let me remind you that it is very crowded in the afternoon.

This weekend is truely amazing. Plan to spend all day there or you will never see a thing. I went by by the skytrain, which elimated some of the congestion. It is packed. It is really easy to get lost in there, so be prepared. You can find anything at all. Bought a sarong and gifts. You can buy a live animal, food, designer brands (knock-offs), bedding, furnature, etc. It is by far the largest market that I've ever been to. I loved it! If you want to shop and bargain, this is the place for you. Just make sure you have time. Once you start to get tired, go to the edges of the building you're in and get something to eat and drink before going back in. That should revitalize you enough to shop some more!

What a fantastic place to visit, you can spend all day here, if you want walking around, looking at the various stalls that are here, you will find clothing accessories, handcraft products, ceramics pottery, decorations furniture, food drinks, i think every body gets the idea. Be aware, this market is packed too the rafters with people, so if your not up too the idea off having people close too you, don't go, cause you will not enjoy. There are info booths, where you can get maps off the area, or a web site, wwwjatujakguide.com or type in search and there will be heaps off info.

This is the Most fantastic outdoor.. oh who am I kidding.. It's the BEST market in the WORLD!! You can find anything and everything you could ever image here!  This is A MUST SEE when visiting Thailand. It is worth traveling from the south or north just to see both Bangkok and the market, just remember.. if you see something you want.. get it then.. you'll never find the same place again, and not even the other venders in the market know where everything is. It really is the Largest market I've ever been too, and I've been to the largest on in Europe..so that's saying a lot!
