Watch Tower
Sitting on the banks of the Chao Phraya river, this 200 year old fort built during the reign of King Rama 1 was recently renovated.  The stronghold is shaped as an octagon and has a watchtower in the middle.  Visitors can tour this building and the surrounding park area.

Getting there:
This fort is located at the bend in the road along Soi Phra Athit, just a few blocks away from Khao San Road.  There as a pier at the small park the fort is in that river taxis make regular stops at.

The park area around this small fort is very pleasant. The fort itself is best viewed a night when it get's light up. I had the good fortune to run into some local university students in this park and ended up chatting with them into the wee hours of the night.
