Wat Arun is one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in the world.  It's main structure is the towering Phra Prang pagoda reaching 79 meters high.  This pagoda, along with numerous other structures in the temple, are covered in peices of smashed porcelain.

Getting there:
This temple is located on the west bank of Chao Phraya River. It can be reached either by Arun Amarin Road or by crossing the river by boat from the Tha Tien Pier (near Wat Pho).

This temple is glorious. For some reason it feels far more laid back than Wat Pho, and seems to get lest tourists as well. One bonus is that it has a lot less tacky gold glitter everywhere. I spent 4 hours hanging out in this temple: 1 hour walking around the complex, 2 hours admiring the intricate designs made by aligning bits of broken porcelain together on the towering Pagoda, and 1 hour feeding the smallest, mangiest cat I have ever seen in my life (I swear this thing was less than 20 centimeters long). Definitely one of the best days of my trip.

You must visit this temple if you are at first time in Bangkok.
It is possible to walk a limited way up the (very steep) stairs of the main prang. A real chalenge! :o)
I loved every tiny details of this composition of 'wats'. :o)
I spent most of my time to take pics about this little pieces.

The full name of the temple is Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan.Named after Aruna, the Indian God of Dawn, the Wat Arun is considered one of the most well known of Thailand's many landmarks. Most of the tour packages around Bangkok offer a stop at Wat Arun, and it is an easy place to access by public transport. For the foreigners, the temple charges an entrance fee of THB 50

This was one of my favorite temples in Bangkok. Easy to get to, as it is a short water taxi ride away. You can see it from across the river. Really pretty at night. This is more open and gets less tourists than Wat Pho, so it feels more laid back. Some of the grounds are free, if you're on a tight budget. I'm glad I went there!

This place was great. There were not many tourist there when I visited it so I could enjoy it even better. I climbet almost to the top. it was a real challange, cuz of the stairs. they were almost vertical and very small.
