Wat Satek & Golden Mount
About Wat Satek & Golden Mount
This wat has an interesting artificial hill on its western end. Known as the Golden Mount, it is the result of a large stupa that collapsed while being constructed. Trees and vegetation eventually covered the resulting mound of mud and bricks, which was later crowned with a small stupa of its own placed on top of its crest. This hill is sufficiently large that it can be seen from Thanon Ratchadamnoen Klang, and it offers a very nice view of Bangkok's more flattering surroundings. A festival is held here every November involving a procession up the Golden Mount done by candlelight. While admission to the wat is free, there is a 10 Baht fee to go up the Golden Mount.

Jun 20, 2010 It is very much worth it to climb up the mountain. On the way up you can ring all the bells along the way. Reaching the top you will have one of the best views over Bangkok. Dec 8, 2010 Definitely worth the time, both for mixing with the locals, but also for the views Oct 25, 2008 It's difficult to climb up, but the view is really beautiful.
