Wat Traimit is a small temple that would probably be considered fairly unremarkable if it weren't for the fact that it houses the world's largest solid gold statue of the Buddha.  The statue was cast sometime in the 13th century and measures 15 feet in height.

The gold statue has an interesting history.  At one point it had been covered in plaster, presumably to hide its valuable gold from looters and theives.  Over time, knowledge of the statue's golden interior was lost, and it wasn't rediscovered until the statue was moved to it's present location at Wat Traimit in 1955 when enough plaster chiped off to reveal the hidden gold.

Getting there:
The temple is located at one end of Bangkok's China Town, just off Odeon traffic circle, which is dominated by the huge symbolic Chinese gate.

The Temples in Thailand are woven into the social structure of society! as the tradition all males are supposed to spend certain period of their life as Monks in the monastery even the °King has to go through that, as in certain countries , males join the army , its join the temple in Thailand, which i find very inspiring one sees many saffron robed monks walking the street in Thailand , asking for their alms.
The temple themselves are a work of magnificent art! i have never seen such a great work of Architecture like the temples in Thailand, with all their elegant pointed gilded work, the grandiose of the Domes a, and the work inside them.
Wat Traimit (Temple of Golden Buddha) Located at the end of Chinatown's Yaowarat Road, near Hualampong Railway Station, Wat Traimit houses the world's largest golden seated Buddha measuring nearly five metres in height and weighing five and a half tons. In the past, artisans crafted the Buddhas in gold and disguised them from invading armies by a covering of stucco and plaster.

After Wat Tramit, walk along Pahurat Road and reach Charoen Krung Road. Through a passageway just off the road you can discover Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, one of the best chinese temple of
Bangkok Chinatown. In the evening don't miss the beautiful and smelling flower market Talat Pah Klong

Located at the edge of Chinatown in Bangkok, the temple has a new building to house the Golden Buddha on the forth floor. The third floor houses a museum for the story of the Golden Buddha. The second floor houses the history of Chinatown in Bangkok. Both museums are worthwhile visiting.

When you go there you just feel something strange!! Camera's are not allowed in the main temple and you have to take your shoes off, so be careful.
