This park has some interesting wildlife, including Indian elephants, tigers, sambar deer, wild boars, white-handed gibbons, Siamese hares, red flying squirrels, kalij pheasants, grey peacock pheasants, red-wattled lapwings, crested serpent-eagles, king cobras, banded kraits, and asiatic rock pythons. Also of interest is the Pra That Cave containing some beautiful stalagmite and stalactite formations. The park can get very hot and humid during the summer, but cools down to more pleasant tempuratures between November and February. Erawan falls is about an hour drive from the River Kwai and worth an afternoon trip. The area is a park, but the main attraction is the 7-tiered waterfall. The hike is just over a mile from the bottom part of the falls to the top (the falls are seperated). There are several tiers where you can swim in gorgeous blue water...but watch out, there are fish that love to nibble on bare skin! They are harmless but it's a strange sensation to have fish try and take a bite out of you! Payment Accepted:

Jan 19, 2009 Erawan National Park is definitely worth a day trip. The trail beside an amazing series of waterfalls beckoning you forth and into their crystal blue waters, is an easy hike. Just avoid going on weekends when the park fills up quickly. On a quiet weekday morning you can have the splendid pools below the waterfalls almost to yourself. Just jump in, relax and listen to the birds sing and flit back and forth through the trees. That's usually also when the thunder starts ... oh oh. Sep 6, 2009 Beautiful and intoxicating... The park was a natural wonderland and my son and I really enjoyed our day there. We hiked, swam, and glassed for wildllife. We both found it well-worth the ride from Kachanaburi. I think this place could be addictive. Don't forget your camera. Good journeys! Aug 2, 2008 The Erawan Waterfalls are located at about 50kms from the city center. There, you can enjoy a trip from one amazing waterfall to the other. Don't forget to wear walking shoes, to bring lots of water and your camera, of course ! Don't get there before June as the water level is way too low to appreciate the waterfalls correctly. Sep 30, 2007 I had a great day here. Not sure if you are allowed to swim in the waterfall pools here, but I did and nobody seemed to mind. We often crossed paths with monks along the trails we were walking and this was the first time I had seen monks somewhere other than in a city environment. Mar 23, 2010 Vraiment agreable comme endroit. En motorbike de Kanchanaburi : 1:30. Allez-y de cette maniere pour eviter de payer 4 fois plus cher, et passer seulement 2 heures sur les lieux.
