JEATH War Museum
About JEATH War Museum
The JEATH War Museum exhibits the working conditions of those force into labor to work on the Death Railway. It is estimated that 100,000 Asian slave labourers and 12,000 prisoners of war died on the whole project. JEATH is an acronym for the soldiers of Japan, England, Australia, Thailand and Holland, all of whom helped build the Railway. The museum is built as a replica of the cramped bamboo huts the prisoners would have slept in, and displays numerous pictures from the war. It was built in 1977 by the chief abbot of Wat Chaichumpol.

Aug 16, 2008 The thing about this place is that it looks like the type of hut the prisoners lived in, except more sanitary. Also the photos depicting life at the time is heart-rending. After that, you go to the cemetery to wander amongst the graves, looking at names that might be familiar. May 28, 2010 Well worth the trip if you are in Bangkok. There are lots of fun things to do all around the area. Be sure to ride an elephant! Oct 17, 2008 A moving museum that you can visit as part of a bigger day trip from Bangkok
