This cathedral is Thailand's largest catholic building.  Originally built as a small missionary chapel in 1711, it underwent four reconstructions between 1712 and 1906, each of which involved major additions to the original structure.  During world war II, its tall roof was removed out of fear of it being too easy a target to bomb.

Getting there:
This cathedral is located on the east banks of the Mae Nam Chanthaburi river in Chanthaburi's downtown center.  A walking bridge crossing the river leads visitors right to the cathedral, making it easily accessible by foot.
