Prasat Hin Khao Phanom Rung Historical Park
About Prasat Hin Khao Phanom Rung Historical Park
Considered to be one of Thailand's most beautiful temple complexes, Prasit Hin Khao was built by the Khmer between the 10th and 13th century when the Angkor Kingdom rulled the north-eastern parts of modern-day Thailand. The temple was built on the top of an extinguished volcano, and offers an excellent view of the surrounding region. A long path of stairs with carvings takes you up the volcano to the temple area itself. The temple comprises many chambers and other interesting structures such as one of the three remaining naga bridges in all of Thailand, and some stone-carved reliefs that rival those those of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
