This temple was partially destroyed by an earthquake in the 16th century.  Some restoration work was done in 1992, but the chedi at the top of the temple is still in ruins.  Despite this, the temple iteself is still ver impressive, reaching over 60 meters in height.  The temple also housed the Emerald Buddha (now in Wat Pra Kaeo in Bangkok) for a total of 84 years.

I think Chiang Mai is the cultural capital of Thailand with its monuments and dance food, etc
