Taksim Square is considered the hard of modern Istambul - it's a major shopping & entertainment district full of restaurants, shops and hotels.  It is also the location of the Republic Monument (Cumhuriyet Anıtı) that was built in 1928 to commemorate the formation of the Turkish Republic.

I stayed in Taksim Square for a night when I was last in Istanbul. The nightlife was incredible. I got lost in the throngs of happy people in the streets. The ambiance was festive and music emanated from countless establishments. I was delighted by all the choices offered for socializing, drinking, and dining. I visited a few places for cold beverages and met up with a group of internationals who were out doing the same thing. We finally settled in at one inviting establishment for a fine Turkish meal. The food was delicious and it was great fun. Afterwards, we found another place for dessert. I stayed out later than I usually do, but it was really worth it - I made some new friends. Good Journeys!

Taksim square is the heart of Istanbul you have a lot of hotels around and the main shopping streer is istiklal, from the square you can take the bus to Aksaray and from there you can check the old city , the grand bazaar and the Sultan Ahmet mosque, you can also take the tram to Olivium shopping mall, its located in Zeitinburnu, take the tram heading to Zeitinburnu and get off at a station called aksemsetin ask for directions to the mall from there, its an outlet mall so you will find a lot of great buys for super cheap prices

there is many amazing things out side here. if you are crazy with starbuck don't worried there is a lot of this coffee shop along that way. Shopping was quietly cheep but if you wanna buying medicine or somethings in pharmacy was so expensive. This place is safe to traveling alone, change your money first if you wanna shopping or taking lunch in restaurant coz is better than you using your own currency

The Square is the gathering place for locals to celebrate public holidays or just spend some time.. it's fool of freedom and Istambul atmosphere .. actually, you can spend a whole day here. You can find a brief of Istanbul in every corner, there is a hidden story of the city everywhere. Many national, international and local activities reach art lovers through the neighborhood.

Very popular and crowded, however, there is a great shopping street and regular transport available by bus. Many modern, international shops are located in the area. The variety includes GAP, Mango, Starbuck, United Colors of Benetton and many more. This bustling yet quaint street is a much see for anyone visiting Istanbul.
