Located in Uganda on the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Rwenzori Mountain Range is home to the third highest mountain in Africa - Mount Stanley (5,109m).  Other massifs in the range include Mount Speke, Mount Baker, Mount Emin, Mount Gessi and Mount LIgi di Savoia.   The highest Rwenzoris are some of the only few mountains in Africa that are permanently snowcapped.  The range stretches some 120km long.

Sometimes referred to as the "Mountains of the Moon", this range, unlike Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro, are not volcanic in origin.  Rather, they were formed as a result of an unplift in the upper flanks of the Albertine Rift within the Great Rift Valley.  Rwenzori is home to rich and varied vegetation, including symphonia trees, giant lobelia, hisbiscus, wild ginger, and more.

Interesting landscape and lush vegetation aside, Rwenzori is home to many froms of wildlife.  From chimpanzees to colobus monkeys, blue monkeys to elephants, leopards to hyaxes, there is much to see and do at this national park.
