Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest park, is named after the Murchison Falls by the same name.  At 3,840 kilometres in size, the park is bisected by the River Nile.  Its terrain varies from hilly mountain ranges and dense rainforest in the southwest, and a savannah to the northwest.  The ever-present source of water attracts a large array of animals into the area, from many different primates, including chimpanzees, red tailed and patas monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, to antelopes, buffalo, Rothschild Giraffes and Elephants, making the area perfect for game viewing.  The most popular region for game-viewing is known as the Buligi Circuit.  Bird lovers are also sure not to be disappointed, as egrets, malachite kingfisher, African fisheagle, wahlheaded and other birds also make this area their home.

Off the game viewing circuit, the Murchison Falls themselves are a must-see.  Here, the entire force of the Nile squezes through a 7m (23ft) gap, and crashes 40m down to the river below at 300 cubic metres per second.  The two best ways of viewing the falls are via a river cruise, as you watch hundreds of hippos and crocodiles pass you by, or from a path that leads to an observation area at the top of the falls.

Nearby the falls, towards the southern bank, are thousands upon thousands of bats at the "Bat Cliffs".
