The fortress is situated on an ancient coral reef , is a conical mountain ( Mount Kiz - Kull - breaker ( krymskotat. Qız Qulle Burun - « Cape Maiden Tower " ), or fortress ), near Sudak Bay of the Black Sea . The area of the fortress for almost 30 hectares .
Successful location of the fortress and powerful fortifications made almost impregnable fortress : the west fortress difficult to obtain , from the south and east of its steep walls to protect the mountain and come down to the sea from the northeast dug a deep ditch .

Genoese Fortress is the most attractive sight in Sudak, Ukraine. It was built in 1371-1469 by Genoeses on an ancient coral reef. Now only a couple of buildings and the fortress wall remain, but you still can get the idea about how medieval people lived... I guess that was really awful :)
