Tower

One of the most famous attractions in Blackpool is the Tower. Built back in 1894, when Queen Victoria was still on the throne it was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris but is only about half the height of its adversary On a clear day, the tower can be seen from as far away as Barrow in Cumbria a place more modern in comparison to 1894 Blackpool as today Britain’s nuclear submarine fleet is built there. Over the years the Tower has become a major tourist attraction. Its world famous ballroom has been used by the BBC for many of their light entertainment programs both on radio and on TV. Come Dancing will be one that immediately springs to mind for many. After World War Two some of Britain’s best know acts have broadcast live from the Towers Ballroom on what at the time was known as the BBC’s light service. Children are not left out as there is Jungle Jim’s Towering Adventure Land and the glass topped walk of faith where nothing but the glass screen stops you plummeting to the Blackpool pavement 380 feet below. For those who prefer a more active time in Blackpool, the World Famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach will feature on the must do list. The Pepsi Max Big One is the ultimate roller coaster ride at the park and was recently the tallest and fastest in Europe. It is almost as much an iconic landmark as the Tower as it can be seen from most of the town and from several miles inland as you approach the Coast down the M55. Roller coaster lovers should make sure that they check out the traditional ‘woodies’, the Big Dipper and the Grand National, which are seen as some of Britain’s national treasures Blackpool's night life is vibrant and encompasses all tastes these days and does no longer confine itself to the annual illuminations which run from September to November. Instead, there are a large number of clubs and bars which cater for many stag and hen parties (bachelor and bachelorette) all through the year whilst the traditional seaside attractions are seen as a seasonal event taking place in spring, summer and autumn. This does mean, of course, that the centre of Blackpool isn't always as quiet as the older generations may prefer! So if you want to visit Blackpool with your family, you should check with your hotelier as to whether they cater for such parties or not. There are plenty of places to stay whether you are there for a quiet family holiday or a more fun packed weekend. Stags and Hen parties are seen as a way for an all male or all female party to celebrate the forthcoming marriage of the ‘intended victim’. Very often this victim is dressed up if male as Superman or Spiderman or some other superhero whilst if the party is female then the dress order of the day is usually St Trinains and British styled driver L for learner plates across the front and back of the ‘lucky lady’. Exactly what the L Plates mean I am not sure as I have never asked!! With the wide variety of people who visit Blackpool, there is an equally wide variety of entertainment. Blackpool pleasure beach hosts it own Ice dance shows within its own arena’s and more adult variety entertainment with British household names including comedy hypnotists. The town has 3 piers which have traditionally been seen as the centre of traditional British seaside entertainment going back to the Victorian era. 2 of these piers Central and North have award winning shows with famous acts such as the Nolan Sister’s and the Rat Pack having appeared within the last couple of years. Ken Dodd who is rather ageing in years these days has also been known to put in an appearance as does Roy Chubby Brown and Billy Connolly either at the Grand Theatre or the Famous Winter Gardens.

The Blackpool illuminations stretch along the entire sea front, from Bispham in the North to Squires Gate beyond the Pleasure Beach in the South. They light up seven miles from late summer through to early November. Visitors travel in from all over the UK to take in what is described as one of the best free shows on earth often creating gridlock and huge traffic jam

Simply look up the Tower can be seen from all over the Town

Holiday destination which great attractions for families. The Blackpool tower a small replica of its more famous French one also has elevator for viewing the whole area. It has amusment park and rides for all ages depending on your thrill seeking wants and requirements.....roller coaster was always a favorite of mine. Wonderful food and restaurants there and has many guesthouses and hotels to suit everyone's budget, I prefered the guesthouses because it made me feel more at home. Nice beaches in the area, but you are going to be walking quite a while to get to the sea if the tide is out..... :)

It can be seen from miles and miles around, much like a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower. I would certainly recommend visiting the tower as there is surprisingly a lot to do in there. You can take the lift to the top of the tower where you can get a fabulous view across the town and beaches that go on for miles and miles. On a fine day you can even see Southshore in the distance. Inside the tower shows are often held there, circus acts and dances. There is a most stunning ballroom inside, a kinds adventure zone, eateries. Certianly an enjoyable day out to be had for all.

Good place if you like theme parks, And the famous Tower. Don't rate the trams, Best place to stay is fleetwood on one of the Caravan Parks. Loved it when i went there on holiday 20yrs ago.
