Famously recognized, Big Ben is commonly thought to be  describing the the clock tower, but more precisely references the five bells inside the clock tower that sits atop the Palace of Westminister (the House of Parliament)

Amazing to see. London is very close knit. Just down from Big Ben is Westminster Abbey and London Bridge. Watch out for the boat trips that take you down the River (they are great value as you get a c ommentary as you pass significant building / landmarks –Including the globe theatre. Not far from Big Ben is the aquarium and the London eye. Best advise is to pre-book tickets as lines to purchase can be ridiculously long. So much to do and see a few days in this area is a must.

Quick, tell me what all comes to mind when you think of London? Did Big Ben come to mind? It does for me. A "must-see" in London and a photography opportunity to record the experience. I recommend a visit regardess of the weather condition. On one visit, my wife and I ventured out to discover Big Ben was hidden in fog. Before we had time to discuss our next action, Big Ben appeared from the fog, as if on cue. It was special. It was beautiful.

Yes, yes, I know Big Ben are the bells within the Clock Tower at the Houses of Parliament, but I know the Clock Tower as "Big Ben". Please pardon my generality with such a well-known icon. Good Journeys!

It was a thunderous night, when I was there. I had lost track of my way under the storm but that is why I travel - to be lost. While walking through the city, I glanced around for a reference, just to have an idea of where in the city I might have reached. I turned a corner and, quasi-fantasticly, a vigorous lightning cut the sky in half. I immediately looked up and, for a split second, there it was, tall and proud, its majestic apparition heightened by the slim, violent white-blue light thundering behind it. For one moment, it was magic, and that's the memory I'll always preserve...

All London visitors want to see Big Ben! I don't know anyone who's been to London who doesn't have a million photos taken here (myself included). The architecture of the clock tower is beautiful and so is the rest of Parliament. Take some shots from the base of the clock tower, but for a better view cross over London Bridge and get the full Parliament/Big Ben panoramic. It's very busy, (traffic and pedestrians) but there are some great places here to sit and relax by the river or by Westminster Abbey.

I suppose this is a must-see sight for those who haven't seen it a thousand times. The houses of parliament are a standard sight for me although when I was a kid I used to love seeing it. How many people know that Big Ben is not actually the name of the clock tower, but of the bell inside? Not many I think
