I love Portobello Market. You can always find great things there, whether it be food, clothes, jewelry or anything in between. I used to live near there and would go there every Saturday. My suggestion is to get there around 9:30am or 10am...while you won't be able to find many exceptional deals (since it's the beginning of the day, many vendors will be charging you their asking price, as opposed to the end of the day when they want to get rid of their merchandise), you will beat all the crowds, which can be overwhelming at times. Be careful of the pickpockets in the area.

I love portobello market on the road! It has lovely cafes, interesting people, good food and a really nice atmosphere. I don't like the shopping to much, it is high prices for allot of crap, but if you have your eye sharp then you can and will find really nice things to good prices. Its both very British and very exotic, and you can you stroll there and let the time pass in the nicest matter of way!

Durante la settimana è piacevole passeggiare per la strada e guardare le vetrine. Durante i week-end le bancherelle sono simpatiche, ma quella di qualità, meno turistiche, si trovano lungo Thorpe Close.
Un tè take-away al Coffee Plant e un salto al negozio di musica della Rough Trade sono d'obbligo! Ottime, ma un po' care, le salsicce del Portable Pork.

This is one of those places you should visit once. If you like a swapmeet or flea market or even thrift store shopping it can be a great experience. I had a good time looking at odd items, and weaving through people. I admit the prices were really out there, but I went to enjoy my time and actually did not purchase anything.
