Description:
The Tower Bridge was built in 1894 in Gothic style and was meant to complement the style of the nearby Tower of London. The bridge opens up on a reasonably frequent basis (average of more than once per day) to allow ship traffic to pass underneath. You can visit the two towers to see an impressive panoramic view of London as well as the informative and interesting Tower Bridge Experience. This comprehensive multimedia display tells the history of the Tower Bridge.

Really awesome to see, a lot people confused the tower bridge with the london bridge, there is nothing too "special" about the london bridge (probably why people got it confused) It was really amazing to see it only I wish i saw it at night.

Alright, the Tower Bridge…this is probably a sight you’ll find on every single London-tourist’s film. On mine as well. It’s simply such a great place to go and take pictures. The bridge is located next to the Tower of London. It’s crowded with people, they’re everywhere. The bridge has a lift. It’s not exactly cheap but I would suggest you go up there. On the top there are fewer people – and you have a stunning view of London. Also, there is an exhibition about the history of London, but I didn’t pay much attention to it and focused on taking pictures. After you have taken the lift-ride down again, you can visit the engine room underneath the bridge…it’s crazy to imagine that the bridge used to be lifted by the power of these ancient engines… My best picture of the Tower Bridge has nothing to do with the bridge, though. I simply used it as an excuse to snap this guy’s ass – isn’t it fantastic? http://www.towerbridge.org.uk/TowerBridge/English/

There something to be said about being near the famous Tower Bridge. It brings me back to ancient times - the Bridge is from 1894 :-) However, if you are lucky enough to see the bridge open up and let a gigantic ship through you are in luck. It doesn't happen all that much. You start to wonder how traveling was back then ....:-) And in darker times, is this where Jack the Ripper and some of his fellow colleagues disposed some of the bodies just to "swim" in the Thames?

To control the passage of river traffic through the bridge, a number of different rules and signals were employed. Daytime control was provided by red semaphores signals , mounted on small control cabins on either end of both bridge piers. At night, coloured lights were used, in either direction, on both piers: two red lights to show that the bridge was closed, and two green to show that it was open. In foggy weather, a gong was sounded as well.

I love this bridge and it's so funny to me that most people think it's London Bridge (because people expect that one to be really nice). If you can, try to go on a day when the bridge will go up (to allow ships to pass) as it is really great.

This bridge is most spectacular from afar. Take a walk alond the Thames and you will see how majestic it is from a distance. Have a picnic on the banks and wait for boats to go through it...quite a sight!

it is wicked, especially by night. I was there at one night in summer and it was pretty fresh but nice to sit on the bridge and watch londons lights, the river and listen to the cars drive by.
