The Salisbury Cathedral is a magnificent work of architecture. It truly feels like a sanctuary. It is fascinating to walk around the cathedral and look at the sarcophagi of those laid to rest there. One of the oldest sarcophagi I saw was from a man who died in the 1100s. The cathedral is also known for housing the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta is kept in the Chapter House. You may see the document for a donation. Please be aware that the Chapter House guards close at exactly 5:00 PM (if not early), so do not dawdle if you want to see the Magna Carta... the guards have no issues with turning you away.

Loved it. The interior is a bit bare because some renovation in the 18th century (I think). But the architecture comes to its right this way. We visited it at the end of the day, after Stonehenge, so we couldn't visit the Magna Carta or climb the spire. Definitly going back to do just that.
The Green around the cathedral is the perfect place to just sit and relax or have a picknick.

The Cathedral has the highest spire in the U.K. and was actually built within a century for the most part, many of these beautiful cathedrals were built over several centuries with many additions throughout those time frames. As with many European Cathedrals, this is one of the first that I visited and it is stunning.

The architecture is AMAZING! And even though I could not read the writing, seeing an original draft of the Magna Carta was impressive. To think that I was able to see such an important document that influenced the creation of many is incredible :)

Churches like this are especially amazing to people from the US. We don't see churches this old here in the States. I loved the art, the grave markers and the tombs of the nights. You walk in and you feel like you are stepping back in time!
