Jul 15, 2009 Queens Park in Glasgow was when I grew up there, a place full of fantasy and adventure - it has hills, forests ( ok groves of trees) ponds, hidden places - you could imagine you were soldiers defending you castle, explorers in the jungle any thing at all. In the winter it would be covered with deep snow so you could then imagine you were exploring the north or south pole. There was a pony and trap for rides, bands playing in summer afternoons and evenings, tennis courts, bowls and the house that the park grounds originally belonged to was a museum full of things like stuffed animals. Growing up in a tenament, it was the place we escaped to daily - the greeness was wonderful ( although we were lucky our tenaments had front gardens and big massive back 'greens' ) o we did have lots of greenery around us, but the park was our wonderland. I haven't been back there for about 20 years, and don't know if I ever will again, as it will have changed and I don't want it to lose the magic it held for me as a child. I ha
