Oct 10, 2008 We visited on an extremely cold day as you drive up to the monument you cant help but be impressed with the size of it,it soars some 67mts high. To think of the stones masons working on it in all types of weather as it is so tall and magestic it would have been a dangerous job.And when you begin to walk the interior and learn of what William Wallace and his men did during the battle of Stirling Bridge and the weapons they used the swords were longer than I am tall 5ft 2 in and extremely heavy these men were real MEN. It also pays tribute to many of Scotlands heros such as Robert the Bruce and Rabbie Burns an many others. We then made our way up the 246 winding spiral steps of the monument. As I am not as fit as I used to be it was a little effort but so worth it. The views from the top are spectacular and you can imediately understand why these men gave the ultimate sacrifice thier lives fighting for such a beautiful country THIER SCOTLAND. Jan 25, 2010 I managed to visit Stirling and surrounds on the first blue sky sunny day in 3 weeks whilst I was in Scotland. This made it good for my photographes. The monument is quite impressive, but I was mainly interested in the real story of William Wallace and enjoyed the experience. Sep 6, 2009 We arrived in Stirling in early August and one of the first things to catch my eye was the impressive William Wallace Monument. I found it to be a truly fitting tribute. It is grand and impressive. Good Journeys!
