Jul 21, 2009 The travel to get there is a bit difficult; you have to hike up about 10 minutes, and then travel up the spiral 246-step staircase to get to the top. But it's narrow -- so when people are coming DOWN, they have to stand and wait to the right side while the people going UP have to climb using the smaller part of the stairs. Quite scary. But it's worth it; the view of Stirling is aboslutely gorgeous... it gets windy though. And don't forget, you get to see Sir William Wallace's actual sword -- used in the 1300s! Amazing. Feb 1, 2010 on the higher ground of beautiful countryside of scotland, you can see how great william wallace was as a national hero. there's a commemorate monument dedicated to infamous william wallace who became very well known after mel gibson's appearance [so directed!] in "braveheart".
