The travel to get there is a bit difficult; you have to hike up about 10 minutes, and then travel up the spiral 246-step staircase to get to the top. But it's narrow -- so when people are coming DOWN, they have to stand and wait to the right side while the people going UP have to climb using the smaller part of the stairs. Quite scary. But it's worth it; the view of Stirling is aboslutely gorgeous... it gets windy though. And don't forget, you get to see Sir William Wallace's actual sword -- used in the 1300s! Amazing.

on the higher ground of beautiful countryside of scotland, you can see how great william wallace was as a national hero. there's a commemorate monument dedicated to infamous william wallace who became very well known after mel gibson's appearance [so directed!] in "braveheart".

Beautiful, a real dominant of the valley, can be watched from the yard beneath the Stirling Castle or walked all the way up to. The view of Stirling and its surroundings from the top of the monument is simply wonderful. Recommended.

It is a nice walk up to the monument. When I was there, there were people dressed in period costume, telling stories of William Wallace. It was interesting. Great views if you hike up there!
