Oct 19, 2009 Carmarthen=Caerfyrddin (Original Welsh name meaning Merlin's fort). Know as the 'Gateway to West Wales' Settled by the Romans, subsequently by the Normans and now the Tescoextras. Carmarthen's status was officially recognised by Henry VIII's Royal Charter of 1542.
