Feb 5, 2009 This is an amazingly beautiful and little known state park. The park is located on an isolated penninsula, far from any noise or distractions. Easy hikes take you though groves of Monterey Cypress, to stunning viewpoints that look over Monterey Bay, calming pebble beaches, tidepools full of life, and ancient conglomerate rock formations that jet up from the crashing waves. Wildlife abounds and during the winter it is an excellent location for watching the whale migration. I grew up going to this park and can't imagine a better place to experience the true natural beauty of the central California coast. Sep 21, 2009 This is an amazing State Reserve. There is a ton of good hiking. Theirs a cool whale museum in whalers cove. If you like to scuba dive Point Lobos, Whalers cove is a must dive location. They only allow 10 two member dive teams, so you will never feel likes it busy. The cove it's self is shallow but it has amazing marine life. I felt like I was in the aquarium. I highly recommend Point Lobos for diving, hiking or just sightseeing. May 17, 2010 One of my favorite places to visit for a weekend day trip. The park is beautiful with lots of hiking trails and a large population of sea lions. For a perfect day, pick-up sandwiches from the nearby Safeway grocery store and have a picnic here along the water. Related Links
