Well i'ts like the hottest place in the western hemisphere officially, really!. So you better don't go there by (air-conditioned) car. Hmm ok you'd be pretty tough if you really walked or even cycled there...let's see, yeah, take a golf caddy! There actually is at least one hotel with its very own golf range-in-the-middle-of-the-freakin-desert.
The "water", if there still is any left, consists mainly of sulfur (yep, the stuff foul eggs smell like) so probably you won't stay there too long if you go to close. You could lick the ground to encounter the stench but I don't suppose it'd help since it looks a little bit like snow but actually is covered by quite pure salt.
Now the cool and impressive thing about this place is, if you look at the cliffs behind you for a while you're gonna find a sign which says "sea level". You got it, the sea level is high above you. Oh, shocking.
Back to...whereever else you prefer to stay in the middle of f**king nowhere.

If you come during the early spring, the weather is comfortable and depending on the rainfall that year you might be able to walk through Lake Badwater. Only a couple feet deep even in the deepest spots, how many times can you say you walked to the middle of a lake? The last time this happened, however, was in 2005. Who knows when it may happen again.

The lowest point in North America. When at the tourist stop you can see a board attached to the mountain, high above your head, indicating the sea level - it's just incredible that just few hundred miles to the west and you'd found yourself in the Pacific, 86 meters below the sea level:)
Mountains everywhere, great wide-open views... that's just a must see when your in Death Valley.

It is the lowest place in the American continent. about 80 m under sea level. At 12h there were 45 degrees. You have to go in winter to enjoy it. In other seasons it is too hot.
