Getting there:
Heading north on highway 101, about one hour north of Garberville. Take the Hookton Exit, right after Loleta. Open only about 10 till 4 PM, closed Sunday sometimes. Bring your kayak, not your dog....

The most spectacular bird sanctuary in northern northern California. That is, Humboldt County. Nice tidal channels for kayaking, good trails, and beautiful water fowl of all kinds. January to March is the best time to come, as all the birds come there for the winter.
