Viewed from the road, this desert park only hints at its vitality. Closer examination reveals a fascinating variety of plants and animals that make their home in this land shaped by strong winds, unpredictable torrents of rain, and climatic extremes. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the attraction of this place. Come see for yourself!

One of a kind! Intensely surreal and mystifying landscape. If you are ever near I highly recommend. Crowded in spring and fall because thats the best weather. Hot in summer, but I've camped in the summer and basically had the whole place to myself. Did not camp the whole day cuz its too hot in mid day. Arrived a few hrs before sunset. The night sky is spectacular and you can see stars for miles. I saw 5 shooting stars in just a few minutes. I'm not big into rock climbing with gear and ropes. But I do love to monkey around and free climb all the interesting rock formations. Great playground. I've taken some European friends to Joshua and it blew them away. One said that they have nothing like it back home to compare to, and was their favorite part of our weeklong trip.

Twenty-five years ago I used to live near here. The Mojave Desert can be quite interesting, especially if you are not used to them. The Joshua Tree isn't found much outside this area, and of course it isn't a tree. It is a Yucca. Yucca is normally a small or medium size plant, often used in home landscapes. Yucca usually bloom in about May or June with a spike of off-white flowers. Many of the old Western movies were filmed near this area, and Joshua Trees are often seen in the background.

Joshua Tree is truly a magical place, I am a climber, a photographer, and a lover of the outdoors and this place is a top spot for all three of those. it is a desert so the best time to go would be early spring in my opinion, it will be pretty cold at night so be prepared, if you are not a desert person, I wouldn't go, but otherwise it's a must see for any outdoor enthusiast

Wonderfull place, here i can "live" moments until now only see in movies, like going in the road and the vegetation crossing with the wind. The Joshua Tree, almost the only vegetation gives it an perfection to the place also retrait in the U2 Album.

A great day trip if you want to get out of the LA basin. If you like Rock climbing this is the mecca of winter climbing. There are thousands of routes mainly Trad climbing but there is top rope areas if you are just starting out.
