Oct 9, 2008 There is just so much to say about this place. It is exciting for both adults children. The last time my family and I went there it was 10 years ago and they are always and still are updating their attractions and rides simulations with the latest movies. Now to give you a good idea about how long this was - we got on the BACK TO THE FUTURE ride Jurassic Park, etc. They have a town built where filming set was specially built for Back to the Future movie. Whilst we were there we were told that a new movie is being filmed with Sylvester Stalone - although we did not get a chance to see him we knew he was there and there was just so much buzz going around. By the way a certain area was off limits to us so tourists did not get in the way or wander off into the studios ... You really needed 2 days to do everything there. The food is fantastic, in large portions and reasonably priced. The weather can get hot but they have thought of that too by having these huge sprays that gave out mist vapours to cool you down whilst queing. Queing can get long but they move pretty quickly. Also you can't help it but end up buying a souvenir from the numerous shops scattered throughout the site. We also tried out dipping our hands in pots of warm wax (depending on the colour you wanted) and when you took your hand out it moulded the shape of your hand in whichever shape you wanted it. It was quite reasonable too. They really are very creative and different. I do not really like Los Angeles very much as it gives me the creeps ... What I mean by that is if your hotel is not a 5 star hotel in a 5 star location you get to see some unsavoury characters. We stayed at a Best Western about 25minutes away from Universal (the wrong direction) and on one day my mother and I were walking towards a coffee shop to get coffee at 12 noon and we were followed by a couple of men. Luckily my quick thinking (by going into a shop) lost them and they walked away... Our hotel room door had at least 7 locks on the inside which immediately left me uneasy. We ventured into Venice beach and although it is interesting it was also weird and had very very strange people regulars there. Do not go to Venice Beach alone even in day light. Make sure you keep you keep vigilant as it is a haven for pickpocketers. Dec 4, 2009 Living here doesn't make Universal as exciting, since i can visit any time, but coming from a tourist point of view it's worth 1 day of my time. Universal Studios is a unique studio, more like a theme park. It has rides and attractions based on movies and tv shows and it gives you that "hollywood-ised" look into tinsel town. City Walk which is just outside the main entrance is a great place to buy some souvenirs and grab a bite to eat. there are movie theaters and tons things to buy and see. It does get a bit windy at night so a light jacket could save you from getting the cold. For those of you who like seeing amusement style parks..this is the place for you. for those of you who like to see how movies are really made and what really goes on in everyday Hollywood, may i suggest Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. It's a more in depth tour of an actual working movie lot, it's not a Tram ride...more like a Golf cart limo. Nov 7, 2008 If you're nearby, this is a must visit. There is certainly a jam-packed day ahead of you there. There are some exhilerating rides including the Jurassic Park themed water ride and the Mummy 2 ride. Additionally there is the new Simpson's ride. The studio tour is a must as you get to visit sets from dozens of movies and tv shows you know and love. There are also some fantastic shows to be seen. My personal favourite was by far the Waterworld show. It's absolutely spectacular. Oct 27, 2008 There is a lot to see here. You can go as part of a group (where they will pick you up at your hotel and drop you off) or go on your own. There is a lot to see here, so be prepared for a lot of walking and a full day. The movie set was especially neat, as you got to see some props and such that were used in filming. Lots of rides. Liked the jurrasic park one. Those are always changing, so a lot of them won't be the same on your next visit. May 6, 2011 I've visited this place twice allready and if i ever go back to Hollywood i'll definitely visit it again.Make sure you take the VIP tour, that way you get to see the studio's at it's best and you'll be able to visit 90% of the park since you don't have to wait in line with a vip pass and you have a guide with you at all times that makes sure you get the best out of your visit to the studio's.
