Dec 4, 2009 I love going to Coronado Island. First off it's not really an island, but that doesn't matter its still a great place. The first thing you want to do is go to the Beach right in front of Hotel Coronado. It is a beautiful , clean and safe beach. If your really wanting to get away , but not to far away you should stay for the weekend or even one night. I heard there is a haunted room at the Hotel Coronado...spooky. If you love to ride you bike along the beach , well you may have found the mecca of all beach riding trails out there. The bike paths stretch for miles and in some cases you will find your self all alone...thats how long the paths are. If your looking for a great place to eat try Peohe's, it's on the other side of the "island" which is about 2 miles if that. It's sorta like a Hawaiian Fusion restaurant....Try the Onion rings made from sweet Maui onions! Love em! Not only do you get a great meal, but if you sit out side you get a great view of downtown San Diego. Dec 22, 2009 Coronado Island is a must see destination if you plan to visit the San Diego area. Of particular importance is the Hotel Del Coronado. Locals call it Hotel Del. It is extremely beautiful and has a great restaurant. It is also one of the oldest buildings in San Diego, and the largest wooden structure in the United States. The Del sits on the beach and is located near great restaurants, a golf course, and the San Diego Bay. Personally, I like to go kayaking nearby. On days when the water is rough I hit the bay. When the waves are small I pummel through and go out into the ocean. Aug 21, 2008 From one side of the island you can see the skyline of SD down town. Therefore, I recommend you to go there by night...it's just fantastic but also during the day on the other side there is a beautiful beach. You can also find an interesting building, which is a hotel that was the first one having elecricity in SD. Dec 22, 2009 The Hotel Del Coronado is lovely in an old-fashioned way. Marilyn Monroe made a movie there, and the rooms have been updated. It is haunted; don't venture down hallways late at night unless you want to change your underwear. Photos taken at the the Del and on its beach don't do it justice. Aug 28, 2009 Beautiful island across from the downtown island. Variety of shops, restaurants and has one of the most beautiful beaches in the city. Take the $2 ferry from the downtown harbor to the Coronado farmers market on Tuesdays! Related Links
