Old Town is full of interesting historical buildings, including an old one room schoolhouse. It is also the starting point for the Old Town Trolley Tours and Haunted San Diego Tours. Old Town has some great shops and restaurants, too.

A fun thing to do while in San Diego. Old Town feels like a piece of Mexico. There are tons of little shops selling Mexican odds and ends, plus lots of Mexican restaurants with great food!

Old town is great, love going down there and getting fresh tortillas and Mexican food. I usually stop there on the way back to Oceanside if i'm coming from the airport and grab a drink after a long plane ride.

If you love Mexican food, head here. My family and I went to a restaurant where we could watch the women making the tortillas by hand (I can't remember the name of the restaurant though).

Yes it is super touristy and full of gift shop items we don't need, but it is a great place to stroll around and people watch! And it is free-great for us low budget San Diegans.
