My friend had a company function here and so she scored us free tix to the zoo. I don't remember the last time I went to the zoo, but it was fun! The place was much larger than I expected, and it took us well over 3 hours to see the whole place. It's always an adjustment to reconcile how you expect an animal to be and the real life equivalent. Gorillas looked smaller than I expected, anteaters waaaaay larger. While I'm glad to have the opportunity to see these creatures, and I'm aware many of these animals would not be able to live in the wild (like the resident eagle that had been shot in the tail), I still felt a pang watching them, rather wishing they got to be living their natural lives.

The zoo is near Ocean Beach. It is a great place to go during breaks from SFSU. Parking can be pack. They tend to close it off if it gets full.

Only go here during sunny weather and early. Coming here in the afternoon can be boring.

This is a great Zoo and it's huge. You can spend a half day walking around. There is a wide range of animals from tigers to grizzly bears. It's a great place to spend a day with the family. Take public transportation and get 2 bucks off admission.

It's a nice place to go and see animals. I love the penguins they can be hilarious. It's also very close to the beach, so you can go and then have a picnic at the beach if it's not cold.

Best city in the US besides New York, Chicago and a couple of others! Nah, it's a great fun place to hang out. Check out the wild seals near the old navy pier
