I've been to Pike's Peak twice, several years ago. We drove up in a car, and it was worth the journey. The scenery from the summit is gorgeous! It is a bit chilly, even in the summer, so take a jacket. There's also a cog train you can take to the summit, and they have very nice facilities at the summit (restaurant, shop, etc.).

Bring your coat, no matter what time of year you go. I went the last weekend of Auguest and it snowed on us. The food at the gift shop is not that great. The chilli needs more spices, and their "world famous doughnuts" taste like hot versions of the powdered doughnuts that I can get at the store. But you cannot beat the view!

Beautiful in the summer. Don't forget to visit the North Pole if you have kids (but plan on spending lots of time there). ... Garden of the Gods is a nice drive and you can do a little walking there, but it's more setup for driving through. ... Cave of the Winds is cool as long as your not claustrophobic.

The views were gorgeous. This is a great place for the whole family. It is not a real hard hike (where we went) so it is great for kids and older folks as well. The kids also have fun climbing on some of the giant rocks.
