Mar 18, 2009 While in Jacksonville on business I found myself with a few hours to kill before my flight home, so I took a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo Gardens. I was pleasantly surprised. The zoo is what I would call medium-sized. It took me about an hour and a half to walk through (without kids and not necessarily stopped at every single animal) and I found myself taking many photos. Animals featured include: leopards, jaguars, giraffes, rhinos, ostriches, lions, many kinds of monkeys, lots and lots of snakes, some very cool birds, and more. I have been to many zoos throughout the country and I found that this one stood out in how close you could get to many of the animals. You could even feed the giraffes (for a small fee). They also feature a sting ray touch pool where (for a small fee) you can pet the rays. I have done this before at the Mystic Aquarium so I didn't do it but others may enjoy it. Admission for 1 adult is $13 and there is a 10% discount for AAA. I didn't notice the children's price. Related Links
