Fun day trip from New Orleans to experience a piece of Southern charm, culture, and history. The grounds are perfectly groomed, the oak trees are picture perfect. Don't just stop at this planation, the surrounding Great River Road is full of other plantations such as Laura, San Francisco, and Myrtles Plantations. None of which are quite as spectactular as Oak Alley, however, they offer different perspectives on life during the era. Rent a car and drive it yourself instead of taking a tour so you can visit as many as you like, for as long as you like.

Visit Oak Alley Plantation near by. It's worth the entrance fee as you get a guided tour as well. Make sure you're not in a hurry, there is so much to see! "Gone with the Wind" live - brilliant!
