Dec 30, 2008 If you don't mind (or perhaps even like) sketchiness, Canal Street is the best place in the northeastern US to find amazing deals on things like purses (usually fake), jewelry (usually also fake), clothing, etc. I love the secret parts of shops where they keep most-likely-illegal goods and sell them cheap. People hawk fake Rolexes, Tiffany's jewelry, and Coach purses in the streets; people jump out of moving vans with garbage bags full of probably-stolen goods; you are constantly approached by vendors trying to sell their wares. Beware the sellers who will try to raise the price of their goods on you. If you try to haggle the price down to begin with, this will sometimes not happen; but some vendors seem to dislike Americans who don't know how to bargain with them and do it to spite them. They will bargain with you, however, if you make the effort, and you can get terrific deals on all kinds of stuff here (some will not last long, however, and falls apart...). Oct 18, 2008 Great fun...During the week there's more police about but on weekends they give you a break...good bargains on designer bags watches jewelry etc...and delecious kabobs from street vendors... Jan 23, 2010 it´s like entring in a movie, the lights, the movement, the persons always running somewhere...Cool :-) Related Links
