Jul 8, 2008 One of the few attractions in New York worth waiting in line for. The museum commemorates the history of immigration through a number of exhibits. Computers are available to search records for family members who immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island. The museum has something for everyone including kids and even boasts a cafeteria style eatery, a gift shop, restrooms, and an amazing view of the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Sep 24, 2008 Ellis Island is definitly the spot you want to visit. It's really moving, you can feel the souls of all the people that have came here and that went through this Island to make what America is like today. This is The visit you want to do; close your eyes, you will still hear the people, feel the fear and the happiness of others, once you've been there, you will not see America with the same eyes. Skip Liberty Island if necessary, doesn't worth it... Feb 12, 2009 A must visit place for any history buffs or those who want to see how immigrants survived the hardship of coming to a country where they knew no English and nobody. This is the "Island of Hopes and Tears". The Wall of Honor outside is also a wonderful monument to hundreds of thousnads of immigrants who came into America in the late 1800's to early 1900's. Entry is free, you just have to pay for a return ferry from Battery Park NYC or from New Jersey. Dec 5, 2009 A real piece of history. Almost eery! Photographs, articles from immigrants ariving to the Americas for the first time. A wall where you can find your ancestors name listed in registration. Very cool. Something you should definietely do at some point. A great way to connect to your family's history.
