FAO Schwarz is a legendary upscale toy store. It was founded 145 years ago by Frederick August Otto Schwarz, and the flagship location on 5th avenue was opened in 1986. The toy store had the goal of amassing all kinds of toys from unique one of a kind toys to popular toys for all generations and all ages.

It is one of the oldest toy stores and oldest general retail establishments in the United States.

Great place for kids and adults like, providing both a trip down memory lane and the ability to look at all kinds of toys that come from all over the country and the world. This place will definitely bring out the kid in you from the assortment of stuffed animals on the first floor to the ridiculously impressive LEGO section. Place has plenty to offer in terms of wanting to look around get shopping ideas. Seriously, there is no place in New York for kids, for a place like here.

Whether you are a child, or just a kid at heart, this store is amazing. From the giant animals to the candy displays, from the piano from "Big" to the massive Lego/Barbie/Cabbage Patch Kids displays and everything in between, this place is a dream come true. Floor after floor will entertain and I can never leave without buying something. A "must see" in NYC

Every child's dream with a giant piano you can walk on, a 1950's style candy sweet shop, Lego land (with life size Lego creations of Star Wars and Harry Potter characters), and so much more. If you can put up with the noise and mayhem of the children around you, it's worth checking out.

Although an institution in itself and conveniently locatd near Saks (for the true Shopoholic), FAO Schwartz is not all that great unless you need to buy extremely life size soft toys like elephants and giraffes.

pretty cool. epic candy place!! so much candy!! i loved the harry potter shop inside the shop it was a beautiful replica.
make sure you visit the glass apple store right next door. its 24/7
