Broadway's huge number of animated neon and television-style signage have long made it one of New York's iconic symbols, and a symbol of the intensely urban Manhattan. Times Square is the only neighborhood in New York with a zoning ordinance requiring tenants to display bright signs. The density of illuminated signs in Times Square now rivals Las Vegas .

What more can you ask to see in times square? Its an amazing site to see at night with the prodigious city lights. You have the amazing Toys R Us with a built in ferris wheel. Also the new MM store that is filled with 2 stories of nothing but MM products its quite amazing. You can find anything here from fine dining to Broadway shows.During the summer it's an electric current filled with a melting pot of culture. This is the heart of NYC and the people walking in times square are the active blood vessels transporting from one destination to another. It's breath taking.

Times Square is the place where a taxi driver took this kid, back in 1978, who would conquer NYC and the rest of the world through pop music. The kid's name'sMadonna...
Times Square, for normal and anonymous people, is this crazy place where a lot is going on : people, traffic (mostly cabs and limos), sounds, giant video screen, flashing ads, pollution....
Times Square is the place who'll never be the same without its Virgin Megastore...

It was better with all the porn shops and hookers, but you can still find some of the former on 8th Ave. Tourists are now the major nuisance- always standing around staring & taking photos when you're trying to get to the subway or meet someone for dinner. There's plenty to see & do- the Sbarro's is fun to people watch (if that's your idea of entertainment). Pizza quality isn't that great around here in general. There's still a strip club on 50th (near my bank). Doing New Years here is a must at least once in your life- oh the humanity! Go see a show!

Times Square, and walking along Broadway is a bright lights experience to the extreme at night time. During the day it is just as much sensory overload too. The people on the streets can be very entertaining to watch, be careful in the crowds, not because of pickpockets but because there are so many tourists, people stop everywhere, taking photos, you'll inevitably run into someone by accident who isn't paying attention. Any time of day or night, there seems to be a never ending stream of people around!
