Portsmouth Village is an abandoned small town which the National Park Service keeps maintained and open to the public. Several buildings are open for you to go inside, like the church, general store, post office, and life saving station. It is truly a cool place. You will want to go to the beach here, it is a MUST. The beach is pristine and almost deserted, great shelling here! Beware, the walk from the village to the beach is MOSQUITO INFESTED so take insect repellant. Also take sun screen, water, and snacks so you can stay a while and enjoy the place.

The village was highly infested with mosquitos. I would advise wearing mosquito netting and spray. The beach was over a mile hike from the village. The beach was beautiful. I think I was the only person on the beach for over a mile. A very peaceful walk.
