This is the battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I went here as a youngster while on vacation with my parents. Dad had a thing about historic sites and in those days a vacation meant packing up the car and traveling.

The thing I remember about it is the sense of sadness I felt looking out across the fields and seeing the markers where the soldiers had fallen. I also remember sitting inside the museum's 360 degree display listening to the orator tell the stories about the battle(s). I still get chills up and down my spine when I think about it.

My dad bought my brother and I both the Union and Confederate soldiers hats which we wore the rest of the vacation, which led us to several other Civil War battlefields, Washington DC, Annapolis, Stone Mountain, Antietam, and many others.

If you like history and ghosts, come to the battlefield. Make sure to take part in the ghost tour. You will watch ghost adventures for weeks afterwards.

A must have for anyone who is interested in the Civil War and the details about the bloodiest battle ever fought in American Soil.
