The Carnegie Museum is in Oakland near Pitt and CMU. Originally built of white sandstone, the Carnegie Museum had turned black from the pollution of the steel mills. After sandblasting in the early 90's the museum is back to its original color; but keep an eye out for the one panel they left black!

In Oakland in the middle of the cultural district, the Carnegie is home to the famous dinosaur skeletons, which are originals. The museum houses a wonderful Egyptian display among many others.

A really great museum...the art exhibits are pretty good, and the dinosaur exhibit is the best I've ever seen. There are also some good Egyptian, Native American, and Arctic exhibits.

Wonderful Natural History and Art Museum. Finest dinosaur collection in the United States. Easily comparable to the Field Museum in Chicago and the Smithsonian in DC.

I spent the night in this museum on a field trip when I was younger and I loved all of the hands on activites!
