Truely awesome site to visit. Along the way, enjoy the drive through the Black Hills. You can also go to Custer State Park and the Crazy Horse Memorial is near by as well. You can also drive through the Black Hills through 385 to Deadwood.

Very interesting as the Monument was created by hand, and the attention to detail is very impressive on something of this size. Sadly many people were killed during it's creation, and some of the bulding techniques left a lot to be desired.

Mount Rushmore has a great museum under the viewing deck. It was new to me since the last time I had been there. Originally, the heads had bodies, too. In the museum you can see the original model.

Not the most amazing mountain side craving, but the place had a great aura to it. Saw it very early in the morning, with fewer crowds. More concrete than anything.
