Oct 8, 2008 Nice park with plenty of campgrounds. Best alternative to Arches National Park for camping. The park itself should be visited by anyone heading to Arches or Moab or Canyonlands. The "Dead Horse Point" view is absolutely the best panorama in the area. I liked it more than Bryce Canyon and have heard numerous people prefer it over Grand canyon for photography as Grand Canyon can be 'too big'. Be careful driving after dark though. On my way back from Moab, the State Park road into Dead Horse had about 100 rabbits zipping across the very dark road. (Possible exaggeration, I lost count after 60, it was insane.) Oct 20, 2008 I camped here in Oct 2008 and it was one of the most beautiful parks I have ever stayed in. The campsite is literally on the egde of a canyon. The sunsets and sunrises over the landscape are breathtaking. October is a great month to visit because it is comfortable and sunny weather during the day but be prepared for a chilly night if you are camping (it is the desert afterall!)
