Nov 2, 2010 I have visited this wonderful Shenandoah Valley and National Park with my family. From Altoona-PA United States to Luray-VA, we covered this distance in approx 5 hours to see these amazing scenic destinations. We initially visited Luray Caverns. We were impressed to see the attractive splendor of the underground caverns. There was very interesting reflecting water pool. There was also an organ that played music through the formations. We sat at the benches outside as we listened to the Luray Singing Tower (known as the Belle Brown Northcott Memorial). It is just across the cavern. We were lucky to hear the country’s major carillons that day. It was very relaxing experience. Then we went toward Shenandoah National Park. First we went on the Skyline Drive which is the most accessible, easiest, and most convenient way to explore Shenandoah National Park. With 75 overlooks, all equally stunning, you will have ample opportunity for photographs. After that we went toward Rapidan Camp, Big Meadows and Backcountry. We selected Woodruff Inns bed and breakfast. The location of this inn is close to Caverns and National Park. They provided great services and my wife was especially impressed by this inn’s food which was economical as well. I would highly recommend this to tourists planning trips towards Luray.
