The Pike Street market functions like a daily farmer's market.  Selling fresh fish, produce, flowers and other handmade items.

Make sure you get there early if you want to see the fish mongers yelling and throwing the fish. The original Starbucks is also located here. Driving and parking in Seattle is not a fun experience, so take public transportation if possible. While the food markets and vendors are located on ground level, there are many shops below (underground). Some are quality, others are only a notch above flea market wares. They're worth a look, though, and bargains can be found if you look hard enough. Golden Age Collectibles, located two floors down, is a must visit! The ferry to Bainbridge Island (Pier 52) is nearby, so I recommend catching that if you have the time. Pike Place is quite touristy, but like the Space Needle, it's a must see when first visiting Seattle.

Listen to native american music as you walk through the market which has everything from bars to jewllery stalls ,be entertained by the guys at the fish stall throwing fish to one and other and then enjoy a coffee overlooking the puget sound.I have spents hours there. Its also near to the piers .Washington State Ferries go Bainbridge Island,San Juan Island Edmonton and there is also a sea Clipper to Victoria B.C. Its also great at Sea Fair week , where the Navy come into town and you can take tours of the Ships and watch a Spectaular show by the amazing Blue Angels

Pike Place is so relaxing - esp due to being on the water. I loved being able to browse all of the unique vendors items for neat gifts. You can see the 1st ever Starbucks, get some Salmon Jerky, and take in all of the (cheap!) beautiful flowers. There are plenty of homemade goodies, like jams and jellies and dark chocolate covered pecans and cherries! You can grab some lunch and take a break in the park next door and admire the water. You can't go to Seattle and NOT go to Pike Place Market! Make sure you drop off some coins for Rachel the Pig at the entrance!

There is a bronze pig, in the fashion of a "piggy bank," named Rachel located at the corner of the market just under the sign "Public Market Center." Yes, it's a popular tourist destination, but don't be fooled. There are plently of locals here to get handpicked blueberries, salmon, and get their caffeine fix before work. The fishmongers here totally rock. Just go for the fish toss. It's worth the price of the coffee or tea you're sippin on, promise.

Always the best place to start your sight seeing adventure in downtown Seattle. Its located just steps from the Seattle waterfront. Make sure you have plenty of time to devote to this stop. There are many different attractions such as, the flying fish market (*where they actually throw the fish of your choice across the store and catch it.), there are many different street musicians and performers. Also a must see is the year round floral selection. Definitely won't be disappointed.
