Old Faithful was an old bore. The anticipation of it unfortunately let me down. Huge crowds gather round, getting seats on benches 10, 20, 30 minutes before the estimated time of eruption. Meanwhile other geysers with more interesting compositions are going off higher and more frequently along the boardwalks beyond. Cehck it out, it is neat for how long it erupts, but other nearby geysers such as Castle Geyser (cool cone) and Grand Geyser (up to 200 foot eruptions) were more impressive.

You are in Yellowstone and it is Old Faithful so I suppose you gotta see it. But don't get your hopes up because its not even in the top 10 for impressive sites in Yellowstone. Some spots I prefer are Grand Prismatic, Castle geyser, Fountain Paintpots, and the lower falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

A tall Geyser that spouts every hour. It's really cool. It has a cafeteria/restaurant and a walkway nearby that shows tons of other geysers. Bring your camera. Be careful of the roaming bison. They are dangerous. Leave them alone and they mostly leave you alone.
