Angel Falls, situated in the Canaima National Park in Venezuela, is the highest free-falling waterfal in the world, at 979 metres (3,212 ft) tall, with an uninterrupted drop of 807 metres (2,647 feet).  The waterfall is so tall that the water doesn't reach the bottom, instead evaporating into mist on its descent.

The base of the falls feeds into the Kerep River (alternately known as the Rio Gauya). In the indigenous Pemon language Angel Falls is called Kerepakupai merú meaning "waterfall of the deepest place"

Getting there:
The falls are located in an isolated jungle region of Venezuela, and a flight from Ciudad Bolívar is required to reach Canaima camp, the starting point for river trips to the base of the falls. River trips generally take place from June to December, when the rivers are deep enough for the wooden curiaras used by the Pemon Indian guides

Canaima National Park is a very beautiful place on earth! You reach it by taking a plane from Ciudad Bolivar. After approx. 1 houd you land at Canaima Airport. A truck takes you to the boat. And after a 4,5 hour boat trip you reach camp. On the way, the most beautiful tepui's reveal themselves to you, the light is magnificent, the boat trip rough but pleasant. It's a complete joy! In the camp you sleep in a hangmat, which is also a great experience! And the walk to the foot of Salto Angel or Angel Falls is very cool: trough the jungle! The goal is very rewarding! Do take enough water with you because there's nothing for sale in camp and the jungle walk makes you transpire a lot!

This trip to Angel falls was the top of my trip to Venezuela. We had to take a plane from Ciduad Bolivar to Canaima national park because the jungle is so thick and no roads lead trough it. First of all the Canaima park it self is breathtaking beutilful. And flying over the village that sits in Canaima lagoon banks.... WOW
From there is cool, but long boat trip up the river and deeper in the jungel.
I sleept one night by the roots of the waterfall, and there is a sight i will never forget.
I have to stop now because there are no words to describe the beuty!

Angel waterfall is not a popular tourist point in Trinidad, but is a good place to do a strenuous trekking into a dense rainforest. After trekking like 1:30 / 2 hours finally be grateful to arrive to the waterfall, bathing there is COLD!

Höchster Wasserfall der Welt. Anreise war (vor 20 Jahren...) chaotisch, mit kleinen "Motorbooten", seichtes Wasser, crash mit dem Untergrund, Übernachtung im Dschungel, also Action pur.
